New To Body Oils?

Here's why we love them!

Neroli Blossom & Blood Orange Body Oil

Most North Americans have grown up using lotions rather than oils for body care moisturizing, but if you’re an advocate of natural skincare, switching to a therapeutic blend of cold pressed, organic oils to pamper your skin has some great upsides.

A body oil can be used anywhere you would normally use a lotion. A lightweight oil blend absorbs quickly and provides a higher concentration of targeted ingredients than a basic lotion. The average body lotion contains 70% water based ingredients plus an emulsifier to bind the water and oil together. You can provide your own water content to your body oil by simply applying it straight out of the shower before toweling off. In so doing, you are creating an on-the-spot emulsion. Using just a small quantity of oil onto damp skin, means that a little goes a long way.

A particularly great upside to oil-only products is that they don’t need to contain a broad-spectrum preservative the way lotions do. Natural antioxidants like vitamin E and rosemary oleoresin are added to stabilize the oils and prevent oxidation. This means that you get to pamper your skin using an all natural and preservative-free moisturizer!

What I also love about using an oil-only product is that the oils never have to be heated in the process of blending them. This insures that you're getting every last drop of nourishing goodness from the raw, cold pressed and sometimes fragile oils that make up the nutrient rich blend.

Not sure how to use a body oil?

It’s easy. After showering and before toweling off, massage a small amount of the oil onto damp skin. Allow a few minutes for the oils to penetrate before dressing and presto, you're set to go! If you wish to use it to replace a hand lotion, dampen your hands a little and apply as you would a lotion. Oil slips onto the skin more readily if your skin is damp. You'll notice you don't need to use as much oil to get the coverage you desire.

Check out our two fabulous body oils, Neroli Blossom & Blood Orange Body Oil, with its tantalizing blend of precious essential oils including seductive and uplifting neroli blossom; fresh and citrusy blood orange and a hint of warm and spicy clove to lift and soothe your spirits. And also, Lemon Verbena & Frankincense Body Oil - fresh and lively verbena with its green and lemony top notes blends with warm balsamic frankincense with woodsy and slightly peppery undertones.  Apricot kernel, sunflower seed, and jojoba seed provide an antioxidant-rich blend of organic, cold pressed and light weight oils to soften, soothe, and repair skin’s barrier.

I love oil preparations. I prefer to leave the preservatives behind and enjoy the skin loving nourishment provided right from the oils themselves. These look divine!

What an absolutely perfect description of a body oil. I so much more prefer oils to water-filled lotions!
