Introducing Lemon Verbena & Comfrey Nutrient Mist with Licorice Root Extract

I'm excited to introduce Lemon Verbena & Comfrey Nutrient Mist with Licorice Root Extract, the latest addition to our Botanic Organic skincare family.

I can't resist bolstering my skincare regime with great hydrating mists made from artisan-distilled, organic plant distillates. I'm also a big fan of licorice root as a topical agent for all manner of skin complaints.

As a result, I've created a nutrient mist which includes a few of my favorite ingredients to keep skin looking healthy and glowing. It is beneficial for any skin type but is particularly recommended for environmentally damaged skin and those suffering with redness issues including acne and rosacea.

Let's take a look at what’s inside the bottle.

We’ll start with lemon verbena. Who doesn’t love the scent of this garden herb? Lemon verbena is a perennial shrub, often grown in herb gardens for it’s many culinary uses. The scent is strongly citrus, with a floral note and a woody finish.

Lemon verbena has anti-bacterial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and toning properties for skin. It is also considered to have calming, soothing and sedative aromatherapeutic qualities that can help with mental stress.

Comfrey is another impressive herb used in our new mist. Comfrey has been used in many forms as a traditional medicine for inflammation, cuts, bruises and skin soothing. The name comfrey means to grow together, which is appropriate for a plant used to heal wounds.

Comfrey contains an especially potent skin-healing agent, called allantoin which can be found widely in cosmetic preparations, especially those for sensitive skin. It is known to aid in wound repair, accelerate skin healing, and it possesses anti-inflammatory properties.

Comfrey contains additional, beneficial compounds including caffeic acid, chlorogenic acid and rosmarinic acid which behave like AHA on our skin to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Each of these polyphenols helps to protect the lipid linings of skin cells and reduce inflammation. Comfrey is also high in calcium, potassium and other trace minerals and the leaves are rich in vitamins A and C. We're truly excited about introducing comfrey distillate into our line of hydrating mists!

We’ve also added a big favorite of mine, licorice root extract, at 5% strength. Licorice root has some potent topical applications for skin. It can help to brighten and even skin tones, soothe irritation, reduce inflammation and it has anti-oxidizing, anti-fungal, anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties. Since I’ve previously written about  the benefits of licorice root, I’ll point those of you who haven’t already learned about it to this page.

In summary, Licorice root is a gentle alternative to harsh chemical skin whiteners. Its anti-inflammatory and soothing properties work well for redness causing skin problems, including rosacea and acne and last but not least, the extract contains powerful antioxidants that protect skin from free-radical damage making it a fabulous ingredient for mature skin.

We’re hoping that your skin will love Lemon Verbena & Comfrey Nutrient Mist, the latest addition to the Botanic Organic natural skincare line.
